Description
The Princeton Technology PT2399 delay chip is an absolute DIY staple ingredient! The number of circuits based on this fantastic little chip is really amazing. It can produce delay times from about 30msecs out to around 350msecs, although you can push it further to 500 or 600msecs if you’re happy with the decidedly “lo-fi” quality you get at such long delays. Alternatively, it’s easy to cascade several chips to get longer delay times and they’re cheap enough that this is feasible at reasonable cost.
The PT2399 delay chip is used in both the Slapback Delay project and also the PTWobble modulated delay, so perhaps you’d like to take a look at those. We also have a page of useful design equations for the PT2399 which gives you the relationship between the delay time resistor on pin 6 of the chip and the overall delay time, amongst other things.
