Electric Druid moves to the Eurozone

Electric Druid has moved to the EurozoneElectric Druid has moved into the Eurozone. We’re now permanently based in Portugal. Given the timing, you can probably guess why! But aside from GBP becoming EUR, what else changes?

Prices with/without VAT

Prices will now be displayed both with and without VAT. We’ve adjusted all our prices to avoid there being any big increase for customers who have to pay VAT and to keep the Euro prices broadly in line with the previous prices in Pounds. This means that if you don’t have to pay VAT, you’ll see a significant price reduction. This is the case for EU business customers with a valid EU VAT number, and also for export customers outside the EU. So USA, Australia, South America, etc etc won’t have to pay EU VAT. Notably that will also include the UK from 1st Jan 2021, although the British government is sure to levy import taxes and VAT on parcels coming in, so it might not make much difference in practice.

Posting from Portugal

Ok, actually we’ve been doing this for a while already, but now everything else is catching up! Portugal is well-connected to send parcels around Europe and the world.

Payments in Euros

Although this seems like a big change, in fact it won’t make much difference. If you pay via Paypal and you’re outside the Eurozone, they’ll take care of the currency conversion – and don’t worry, they charge us the fee for that, not you! – so you don’t need to do anything special and you’ll simply be charged the equivalent amount in your local currency.

Still not sure? Get in touch!

If you’ve still got doubts about how this change will affect you or whether you’ll be able to use the new Euro shop, please get in touch! I’m sure we can work out any problems.
